What We Believe
Welcome to the Fairfield Christian Church. We hope you find our church a refuge of faith that makes sense for daily living. We want those who come to our church to feel the love, acceptance and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.
The Fairfield Christian Church is a New Testament Christian Church. We value our freedom in Christ and enjoy self-government with no denominational affiliation. We seek to use the Bible as our only rule of faith and practice. While our people are from various denominational backgrounds, we share a common Christ and eternal destination. We pray that you will find open doors in the life of this fellowship to worship, grow in faith, and share in opportunities to serve.
Essentials
Isn’t it good to know that some things don’t change? What was true in the first century is still true as we begin the 21st century.
We believe:
that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, born of a virgin, who died for our sins and arose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8) Regarding His deity, He is fully God. (John 1 and Colossians 1:15-20)
that the Bible is the inspired Word of God – a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. (II Timothy 3:16)
that every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
that salvation is by the grace of God through faith and not works. (Ephesians 2:8,9, Romans 3:24, 6:14)
that forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. (John 3;16) Jesus also said in John 3;5, that we must be born again.
that those accepting Christ must repent of sin, confess their faith and be baptized into Him. (Romans 10:9, Acts 2;38) Baptism is also commanded in Matthew 28:19. See also Colossians 2:12, Acts 22:16, Romans 6:3,4.
that the Church is the body of Christ on earth and exists to save the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)
that Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
that the Holy Spirit comforts and counsels those who obey the Lord (John 14, Acts 2:38, 4:31 & 5:32) produces giftings and fruit in the believer (Romans 12, I Corinthians 12, and Galatians 5) along with the Father and Son, He is a personality and indwells the believer.
